Fam Trip to Zadar to discover Dalmatia

Azure-blue water, imposing landscapes and state-of-the-art MICE infrastructure. This September, nine Meeting, Incentive, Convention and Exhibition (MICE) planners from the German-speaking region discovered that Dalmatia is truly a gem among MICE destinations on the maximice – Fam Trip to Zadar. But the most important objective of the four-day trip was to see the destination from their customers’ point of view, make contacts, try out activities themselves and thus learn which groups would especially enjoy a trip to the Dalmatian region.

“Finally, real face-to-face conversations once again!”

For many event planners, this was their first familiarisation trip in a long time. According to Pro Sky’s Daniel Kusenbach, this was evident: “After two years of abstinence, I was not the only one happy and excited to be able to experience destinations and travel options on the ground again.” For many, it was the first research trip they had undertaken since the advent of the coronavirus pandemic. An important milestone. “Interpersonal dialogue, face-to-face networking, and reading someone’s facial expressions and gestures all help to create trust and form the foundation for building lasting business relationships,” continues Daniel Kusenbach. “Virtual worlds and communication are unable to achieve this depth. That is why I am all the happier that all the participants enjoyed the Fam Trip to the Dalmatian region.”

“We keep our Fam Trips small and informal”

“Apart from the attractive destinations, it is the partners, above all, who really make a good Fam Trip,” explains Daniel Kusenbach. Under the coordination of Markus Lüthge (maximice), all three partners were actively involved in the organisation of the trip. While Natascha Hayden-Lugmayer of Falkensteiner Hotels took care of the accommodation, excellent catering and on-site activities, Markus Lüthge of maximice organised the programme tailored specifically to the MICE planners, and Daniel Kusenbach of Pro Sky organised the flight tickets. “Markus and I were both responsible for signing up the participants. We made sure that the group remained small and informal. It is important to have time for face-to-face conversations and create the right vibe.” Ultimately, nine senior and director-level event managers were selected from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Depending on the duration of the event, it would also be possible to include excursions to the surrounding national parks on land or on the water. The hotel’s own boat jetty is also pretty cool from where cruises or team sailing regattas could be organised. All of my requirements were met – I can only heartily recommend it.”
